What events do you swim?

Sprint Freestyles and Butterfly

How did it feel qualifying for nationals?

I qualified in the 400 free relay, 50 free and 100 free and it was exciting. Leading up to it was nerve-racking because you want to get those national qualify times just so you can relax and know they are under your belt and focus and train for the national meet. So getting those times in the beginning of the season was definitely a weight off my shoulders but now it gives me more motivation to work hard the rest of the season.

Of the three what felt the best?

The relay felt the best because you can bring in more teammates, which makes it more fun.

What are the goals for the rest of the season?

Continue to have a strong season. This is our inaugural season, and we want to be on the winning sides of things every meet we can. We want to create a good impact so we can attract recruits to come swim at our program. We were ranked 9th in the nation, which is incredible.

Why did you pick SAU?

The combination, as an athlete, of having a new wellness center and pool. The major, cyber network security, as far as computer majors go there is not anything like this around this area. The head coach also. He is just a great guy.

What are some activities you do outside of swimming?

Ultimate frisbee club, but it’s kind of hard to say because a lot of this first year is building the team and starting traditions.

Favorite moment so far in the season?

There was a time a couple weeks in, when we had a water polo day. It was really fun to have a relaxed time with the team. Take a little break from our goals to bond.
